Defense
In an effort to help the Air Force build aircraft that are lightning resistant, Honeybee Robotics developed a Lightning Protection System for use on airborne turrets.
Honeybee is also working with the Air Force Research Laboratory designing a gimbal to be used in earth orbit, and has obtained grants to commercialize our Rolling Contact Connector technology.
Honeybee is also at the forefront of efforts to develop a Rapid Soil Classification System, employing a relatively light weight and easily assembled and operated percussive penetrometer (Percussive Cone Penetrometer, patents pending). Honeybee’s system improves over previous devices which required two or more operators and exposed the users to injury. Furthermore, soil strength, calculated in real time, is assessed more accurately and consistently. Rapid soil measurements, useful in the construction of roads, airfields, and building foundations, have many defense applications, particularly for engineering units in the field.
